St James Centre

 

St James Centre is a community resource centre based at the heart of Normanton – the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighbourhood of Derby City. It is a very busy place, with 45,750 visitors/users through the doors between April 2008 and March 2009!

One role of St James Centre is to make facilities and resources available to both voluntary and statutory organisations by providing rooms and services for meeting, training, conferences and events. In addition, St James offers office space for voluntary and community organisations which enables them to have a comfortable base at the heart of the company.

In our other role, we use our knowledge and experience of the community to create, fund and deliver projects which benefit the local community and Derby city as a whole. Currently, we are running the following projects:-

• The Fun-abil8y Programme, a leisure and developmental project for young disabled people aged 8-19 years
• Advice for All which offers an advice service covering benefits, employment, housing and associated issues, in English, Asian and Eastern European languages
• Cool Kids Club for young people aged 8-12 years from Migratory Communities
• Interfaith Projects with the Forum of Faiths for Derby
